About INA

International Nurses Anonymous was begun in May, 1988 to serve as an unaffiliated network of nurses that are involved in a 12 step recovery program. Membership is open to any RN, LPN (or LVN), nursing student or former nurse who considers themselves to be members of a 12 step group. This includes, but is not limited to, AA, NA, OA, Alanon, Naranon, ACOA, CODA, etc..There is no stipulation as to how active one is in the 12 step group, or when a meeting was last attended.

The goal of our organization is for mutual support and networking, and to serve as a resource for other newly recovering nurses. On the membership form the INA member checks whether they give permission to be contacted by another nurse in recovery. If they check "No" their name is kept confidential by the Secretary/treasurer and their name is only included on the mailing list for newsletters. This list is never given to other organizations and is seen only by the Secretary/treasurer.

At the founding meeting the group voted to print and circulate a list of members who have expressed a desire to be on that list. These lists are available to members only for $5.00.

There are no dues or fees for membership, but members are encouraged to contribute funds to offset the costs of printing and mailing. Newsletters are sent free of charge to members of the INA network. For more information about our organization, or to download an application form please use the links above.

INA CHAPTERS OR SUPPORT GROUPS

INA does not have chapters across the country, nor do we operate support groups. It has been our experience that the location and times of meetings change rather rapidly and INA is not notified. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, to keep an accurate list. We respond to inquiries about support groups by providing the names of nurses in the area who have given permission for their name to be given to other recovering nurses. It is hoped that nurses in the area will be aware of the presence of support groups.
